Bare Equity is no longer providing public access to its database.

For the past year, Bare Equity has been allowing public access to its database of corporate fundamental analysis. In parallel, we have been testing our new financial concept called "Bare Value." Bare Value was introduced as a metric in July 2006.

Bare Value was created to establish a single calculation that can be universally applied and would encompass most of the primary fundamental analysis measures. It's function is to produce a gauge of intrinsic economic value or to produce a price that doesn't consider the stock market, speculation or derision.

Bare Value is expressed as a price per share. Additional financial trends were calculated and scored on a company by company basis. The best of these rose to the top of our screener and was used to produce "The Bare Equity Value List." The Value List contains up to 25 stocks and is updated nightly.

On November 6th, for the first time in our brief 18 month history, our algorithm was unable to produce a list of more than ten stocks.

We are studying the live test of our method and plan to return to publishing with a new website in or around January 2008.

A tidbit: If you purchased an equal dollar amount of each stock on the value list, on any day in the past 18 months you would have beat the S&P 500 (in some cases by 3X) if you held the position for more than three weeks.

Overall, in the 18 month period, there were more losers than winners on the list. But the winners were spectacular. Winners included 9 takeovers (buyouts) and a host of greater than 100% gainers. No losers went to zero, though some experienced greater than 40% losses. The net gain (including commissions) was decidedly positive and greater than the S&P500 index. There is no evidence or guarantee that this will continue however.
